Medigap, also known as Medicare Supplement Insurance, is a type of health insurance policy sold by private insurance companies to fill in the gaps (or "gaps") in coverage left by Original Medicare. Original Medicare consists of Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance). Together they cover many healthcare services, but they don't cover all costs. Medigap policies are designed to help individuals with out-of-pocket expenses such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
