Catastrophic coverage phase

The Catastrophic Coverage Phase is a stage in the coverage of Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. It represents the final stage of the Part D benefit structure and is reached after a beneficiary has gone through the initial coverage period and the coverage gap (also known as the "donut hole").
