Medicare Supplement Plan G Explained

Plan G is a standardized Medigap letter that many people new to Medicare compare when they want broad Original Medicare cost-sharing coverage.

What Plan G is designed to do

In most states, Plan G helps with Part A deductible and coinsurance, Part B coinsurance and excess charges, blood, hospice, and skilled nursing coinsurance. You still pay the annual Part B deductible yourself.

Who often looks at Plan G

People who want nationwide access to Medicare providers and highly predictable medical bills after the Part B deductible often compare Plan G. Premiums vary by company and location.

What it does not include

Plan G does not include Part D prescription coverage, and it generally does not include dental, vision, or hearing extras. Those are separate decisions.
