Two UCI names, two networks
Both names include UCI. They are not the same list of doctors. SCAN’s notice names only one of them.
- Leaving: UCI University Physicians & Surgeons, IPA ID I1257. SCAN said this network includes UCI faculty and affiliated providers of UC Irvine Medical Center.
- Staying, according to the notice: UCI Health Plan Network, IPA ID I1245. SCAN said this group remains in its network and includes providers affiliated with UCI hospitals in Lakewood, Los Alamitos, Fountain Valley, and Placentia-Linda.
The name on the building is not the group
A UCI hospital in Lakewood or Orange County does not tell you which IPA bills the visit. Ask the office for the medical group name and, if they have it, the IPA ID. Then compare that name with the two above. “We take Medicare” does not answer whether a SCAN plan will still pay that office after December 31, 2026.
What SCAN will do, and the fall dates
What SCAN said it will do for current members, and how this lines up with Annual Enrollment, is on Hoag groups leaving SCAN. Use that page with the UCI name on your letter. Your letter controls if it names a different date.
If you want to keep a UCI faculty doctor
SCAN’s notice says people who want to keep seeing a UCI faculty primary doctor need to work with UCI on their options. Ask that office which 2027 plans, if any, will still include that doctor and IPA I1257. Then check the same doctor, the same office address, and the same plan names on Medicare.gov. The questions in My Medicare Checkup are the list to take with you. This page does not name another company that includes those doctors.
How to review the letter
The review steps — your SCAN letter, the doctor, the medical group, and a conversation that does not enroll you — are written once, on Hoag groups leaving SCAN. Use them with the UCI name on your letter. Confirm that doctor on Medicare.gov, with the plan, and with the office. This page does not publish a member list, and it does not say UCI Health Plan Network is ending.
