Which tool should I use?
Use the tool that matches the question. You do not need to read the technical sections first.
- Explain a Letter — understand wording in one short paragraph from a Medicare notice, with personal details removed. Open the tool.
- Medicare chat — ask a general question about Medicare rules or a term. Do not paste a letter or personal health information. The chat button is on this site.
- My Medicare Checkup — organize the doctors, drugs, and costs you want to verify. It does not pick a plan. Start My Medicare Checkup.
Why Medicare letters require extra care
A Medicare letter may contain more than you need in order to understand one sentence. An Annual Notice of Change, an Evidence of Coverage, or another plan notice can include your name and address, a Medicare or member number, a date of birth, prescription names, a medical condition, and details about your coverage.
You generally do not need to share those details to understand a deductible or why a premium is changing. A safer approach is to remove identifying information and ask about the specific sentence or term.
What happens when you paste a letter into an AI chat?
When you enter information into an online AI service, that information may be transmitted to the company operating the service. AI providers do not all have the same rules for storage, retention, use, or sharing. Some offer extra privacy choices or business agreements. Before you share sensitive information, read that provider’s privacy practices.
An AI explanation can be incomplete or wrong. It may also suggest a coverage change without knowing your doctors, drugs, or the rest of the letter. Use it to understand a term, then confirm anything important with the plan or with Medicare.
Medisure Agency’s Explain a Letter tool
Explain a Letter helps with common language in a Medicare notice. You can enter a short paragraph about a monthly premium, a deductible, a copay, a drug list, prior approval, a provider network, or the date a change starts.
The tool explains terms it recognizes and names what you may want to verify. It does not decide which plan is best, recommend a switch, or enroll you. If it does not recognize the sentence, it says so.
The explanation is designed to run in your browser. Remove names, identification numbers, prescription details, and other personal information before you paste. The tool looks for common ID patterns, including a Medicare number and a Social Security number. It cannot catch every member-number format. If something still looks like an ID, delete it. Use Explain a Letter.
How is Explain a Letter different from the Medicare chat?
Explain a Letter is for familiar terms in a short passage from a notice.
The chat is for a general question, such as what Medicare Part B is, when the Annual Enrollment Period is, the difference between a copay and coinsurance, or what prior approval means. The chat may use an outside AI service to answer a permitted general question.
Do not paste a complete Medicare letter into the chat, and do not provide personal, medical, or insurance identification information. A message that matches a common sensitive pattern is not forwarded to that outside service. A blocked chat message has still been typed into this website so the site can check it. That is not the same as saying it never left your device. Automated safeguards cannot guarantee that every sensitive detail will be detected.
Understanding privacy and security
Medisure Agency aims to limit unnecessary collection of personal information through these educational tools. Explain a Letter is not a contact form. The Medicare chat works differently and may transmit a permitted question to an outside AI provider.
Contact forms are separate. A form can save a name, phone, email, and ZIP so Medisure Agency can respond to the request you submitted. What those forms collect, and how consent works, is in the privacy policy.
No online tool should be treated as the right place for confidential information unless its privacy and security protections have been confirmed for that purpose. Do not leave a letter open on a shared computer.
Are these tools protected by HIPAA?
HIPAA is a federal law that protects certain health information handled by health plans, healthcare providers, and organizations working on their behalf. Not every website or AI tool that receives health information is covered by HIPAA.
Medisure Agency’s Explain a Letter tool and general Medicare chat are intended for education, not for exchanging medical records or confidential health information. Do not enter Medicare numbers, Social Security numbers, member IDs, diagnoses, or prescription details.
If you need help with a personal coverage issue, contact Medisure Agency directly to discuss an appropriate way to share the necessary information. You may Talk with Alan or call (626) 214-5774 (TTY 711).
If you choose to use another AI service
You can reduce unnecessary disclosure by taking these steps. Removing identifying details lowers the risk. It does not always make the information completely anonymous, because other details in the sentence can still point to you.
Read the answer as an explanation of the words, not as a decision. This website does not enroll you.
- Remove your name, address, date of birth, and identification numbers.
- Remove prescription names, diagnoses, and other medical details that are not needed.
- Share only the relevant sentence or paragraph.
- Review the AI provider’s privacy practices.
- Verify important answers with your plan or at Medicare.gov.
Want help understanding your Medicare options?
Understanding a letter is only one part of the decision. Your doctors, prescription coverage, expected costs, and where you receive care can change which questions are worth asking.
My Medicare Checkup helps you organize those questions and identify details to verify before a coverage decision. It does not choose a plan. You can also Talk with Alan, a licensed California insurance agent.
Medisure Agency is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. For information about all Medicare coverage options, visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 711).
Common questions
Choose a question. The answer stays until you press Back or Next.
Can I paste my entire Annual Notice of Change into Explain a Letter?
No. Use a short paragraph with personal and medical details removed. The tool explains terms it recognizes. It does not review an entire insurance contract.
Can I ask the Medicare chat which plan I should choose?
No. The chat is for general Medicare education, not a plan recommendation. A licensed agent can help you look at your own doctors, drugs, and costs. You may also compare options at Medicare.gov.
Does using these tools mean my information is protected by HIPAA?
No. Do not assume that. HIPAA depends on the organizations involved and the service being performed. Do not enter sensitive information into either educational tool.
Can an AI explanation contain mistakes?
Yes. Medicare rules, plan benefits, provider networks, and drug coverage can change. Confirm important details with the plan or at Medicare.gov.
Does Medisure Agency enroll me through these tools?
No. These tools do not submit a Medicare enrollment application.
My Medicare Checkup
Answer a few questions about your ZIP code, what matters about cost and doctors, and where you get care. The summary shows the questions those answers raise. Confirm each one with the office, the plan, or Medicare.gov. A listing in a directory, or the name of a plan, does not show whether a doctor is in the network, whether a prescription is covered, or what you would pay this year.
Start My Medicare CheckupYou will get a summary of the questions to verify. You can also talk it through with Alan.
