An insurance deductible is the amount of money that you have to pay for certain types of claims before your insurance company will cover the rest. <\/span><\/p>\n

Different types of insurance have different ways of applying them. Some are per claim, meaning you have to pay them each time you file a claim. Some are per year, meaning you only have to pay them once in a calendar year. Some deductibles are fixed amounts, while some are percentages of the total claim amount.<\/span><\/p>\n

The size affects the cost of your insurance premium<\/a>. Generally, the higher your deductible, the lower your premium<\/a>, and vice versa. This is because you are taking on more or less risk by choosing a higher or lower deductible.
